Life has been crazy these past weeks. I've fully transitioned into 4 10-hr work days, 3 of which I work until 8pm. Sometimes it's 4 of the 4 days until 8pm.

Any which way, we were in some desperate need of time together without feeling like it was already bedtime!

So, that's exactly what we did. Back at Christmastime we bought each other a one-night stay at a B&B in a small town called Stillwater, just under an hour away from home. We dropped off the dog at doggy daycare and headed out, enjoying scenery, picture-taking, a "fireplace" (okay, it was a flame and fake wood, but it was still nice!), massive portions at the local Mexican eatery, and so much more!

Here's the proof (it's in the pudding!) of our little getaway, done Hipstamatic style, my new favorite iPhone app which makes even me look like a capable photogrpher!
He's getting up and I know that I should, but it's my day off, so I really want to sleep. I'm thinking about canceling my morning appointments that are set to start at 8am because I want to sleep in!

But as I'm lying there, trying to think of what to say as to why I'm not coming in, I realize that I do this all the time. And we have people do this at the agency where I work, and it drives me crazy. People who call and cancel and you know it's just because "they don't feel like it."

The problem is, I seem to do this with a lot of life and commitments. Appointments I've made, parties to go to, church service, small group during the week, etc. And I bail because I just don't feel like it. And I come up with some sort of "I really need to clean the house, work from home, yada yada yada." But then I sit at home and watch TV and don't do anything.

So, 2 weeks into the new year, I've resolved to stop it. I'm going to go to things I've scheduled when I have lame excuse not to go. I'm going to stop flaking on people because I hate it when I get flaked on. And if I'm going to promote consistency, making and keeping your appointments, etc. to the people I see at work (and potentially further down the road with social work), it's time to start with ME!

So if you see me on a daily basis, if I flake on you, or if you know I was supposed to do something and I didn't, please call me on it. With love, of course, but call me on it nonetheless.

Because you know what? Today I went to my 2 morning appointments and was motivated to get more done, play with my dog, and be productive in my 1 hour before I'm off to the next thing. It was worth it!An Ehrenberghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09457064529819398890noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4031339120101269066.post-48777033076107193512011-01-04T13:42:00.000-08:002011-01-04T13:42:26.198-08:00Great Success!Hi Friends, and welcome to our blog!

We don't have any grand schemes or designs for this plan, other than just sharing life with those of you in the blogging world. We love staying in touch with you!

We've called this blog "Purposely in Love" because we think we're in love for a reason, not just accidentally!

To start things off, I want to share my great success!

I have officially applied for entrances to the Master's of Social Work program at the University of Minnesota. Amazingly, I sent this off with a few days to spare and beat the deadline (although I didn't make my own self-imposed deadline). Now I wait until I hear back on my status, sometime in March, according to information I received in November.

The application was a true labor of love, with a detailed resume, 1500 word research essay about lack of insurance and access for Spanish-speaking residents, and 2000 words (give or take) about why I want to be in the social work field.

I'll let you know more soon!An Ehrenberghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09457064529819398890noreply@blogger.com1
